P.L.A.N.T. Organic Art Culture at Oui.Gallery
Organic Art Culture are nature inspired artworks where the artist is aware of the waste from creating art. It is a showcase of works by artists that discuss social issues such as ethnic wars and identity that create waste from the conflicts, the waste or artifacts are the artwork.
Art is created organically depending on what soil and climate one is based when created the art. The artworks are the vegetation. What artists and artworks grow on Oui’s soil?
Inspired by artists Matt Hope and Dwight Portocarrero, Oui decided to upcycle waste. Oui are aware of the amount of waste produced from curating shows and Oui use local waste to create a feeling of nature, to show a potential and reflect on how we see waste. Nature is full of what many see as as trash. Is urban nature made of trash? Is it our future?
Artworks are P.L.A.N.T.s. They are organically grown.
The forms they take depend upon the soil and climate where the seeds are planted. Oui decided to showcase the ‘plants’ we currently have in the gallery.
Many of the artists Oui presents such as Aaron Owens and Matt Hope, created works that are either made in nature or are in response to environmental issues. Oui were inspired by this trending organic art culture and curated this showcase, also with zerowaste in mind. Every plant, tree and leaf you see is made from waste Oui collected in Central, Hong Kong and materials left from our last show at Oui.Gallery. Oui invite you to come artwork hunting with us in our (hu)man-made forest and take a look at the common future we are all facing.
